💡 In simple words: This page explains the two ways to support WikiDeal: making a gift, or buying utility tokens. A gift is a pure donation to support the research — you give because you believe in it.
🎯 In 20 seconds (scientific summary): Donor hub: WikiDeal can be supported in two distinct ways — a pure donation to the research programme, or the purchase of utility tokens (a significant contribution). A pure donation comes with no tokens and no advantages: it rests on trust, and WikiDeal commits to accounting for it through periodic reports. Donors may optionally express a target-audience preference, understood as a non-guaranteed tendency. No speculative framing; no guarantee.
Support WikiDeal
There are two ways to support WikiDeal, kept clearly separate:
| 🎁 Make a donation | 🪙 Buy utility tokens |
|---|---|
| A pure gift to support the research programme. No tokens, no advantages in return. You give because you believe in the project. | A significant contribution (minimum in the range of CHF 250–1,000, threshold to be set by the Steering Committee) acknowledged with utility tokens. |
| Based on trust and transparency. | See the three-tokens page and Subscriptions. |
Making a donation: a pure gift
A donation to WikiDeal is a pure gift to support the research programme. It comes with no tokens and no advantages in return. What it rests on instead:
- Trust. You trust the team to use the gift in the best possible way. In short: "I trust you, and I look forward to hearing how donations are managed through your periodic reports."
- Transparency. WikiDeal commits to accounting for the use of donations through periodic reports.
- An optional target-audience preference. When donating, you may indicate a tendency you would like to see supported in priority. This is not guaranteed — it also depends on which communities choose to migrate to WikiDeal — but it is a tendency that will be taken seriously.
Target audiences you can favour (optional tendency)
- Women
- Developing countries
- Social micro-entrepreneurs
- Artists and creatives
- Youth and students
- Seniors
- Social and solidarity economy (SSE) actors
- Communities in ecological transition
This preference is a wish, not a binding allocation.
Buying utility tokens
Alternatively, you can make a significant contribution and receive utility tokens in acknowledgment. This is a distinct path from the pure donation, with its own rules (threshold, activation, conversion). The minimum is in the range of CHF 250–1,000, with the exact threshold to be decided by the Steering Committee. Utility tokens are a transitional mechanism for the launch phase; they are not a speculative asset and carry no guarantee. See the three-tokens page.
Why support WikiDeal?
WikiDeal is a research programme working to deprivatise markets — to let people own, run and sustain fair marketplaces instead of paying heavy commissions to platforms that extract value. Supporting WikiDeal means seeding an institution designed to become more community-owned over time, not less (Exit to Community).
Concrete outputs are gathered in the Deliverables category, notably the Legal Studies (incl. fiscal).
