This observatory is under construction and not yet active. It is part of the WikiDeal observatories: citizen-run, participatory and volunteer-based.

The Clauses & Contracts observatory is intended to watch contract clauses and contract models: how clauses evolve, mature and get endorsed, across jurisdictions and platforms, following the logic of one observatory per subject. It would work hand in hand with the Toolbox (clause bases, endorsed contract models, legal references).

Free online legal services

The observatory is intended to keep a watch on free online legal services, as sources for clause research and as reference points for users:

  • government legal databases (fedlex.admin.ch, legifrance.gouv.fr, and their equivalents in other countries);
  • open legal education platforms;
  • pro bono legal networks;
  • AI-assisted legal advice platforms.

Legal and regulatory watch

The observatory is also intended to track the regulations that shape contract clauses and digital marketplaces:

  • FINMA and Swiss financial regulations;
  • the EU AI Act (adopted June 2024);
  • data protection rules (FADP, GDPR);
  • consumer protection in digital marketplaces.

A semi-automated legal watch workflow (AI-assisted monitoring with human review) is proposed in the Legal Watch Guide, which remains the reference page for the method; this observatory would apply it rather than duplicate it.
