💡 In simple words: WikiDeal wants to test its fair contracts in real life. These small test projects are called pilots. Pilots can be about anything. The first model pilot is babysitting, because it is simple and it was studied first.

Pilots can address any domain: the model is domain-neutral. Babysitting has been retained as the model pilot because it is simple and because preliminary studies identified it as the most workable starting point. Street Fundraising is planned as a second pilot, and Real Estate Restoration remains a more specific, non-priority track. The delivery targets of the pilots are defined in Milestone 2 of the Prototype 1 deliverables.
Pilot use cases
What is a pilot use case
A pilot use case is a real-world experiment: a marketplace domain where WikiDeal contracts, governance and economic mechanisms are intended to be tested with actual users. Pilots can address any domain: the model itself is domain-neutral. The framework for these experiments is Prototype 1, and their delivery targets are defined in Milestone 2 of the Prototype 1 deliverables.
Babysitting: the model pilot
Babysitting has been retained as the model pilot, for two reasons:
- it is simple: immediately easy to understand for every kind of audience, and legally straightforward;
- it has been studied: preliminary studies identified babysitting, on both legal and market grounds, as the most workable starting point in a lightly occupied market (see Why and How WikiDeal Can Work).
The corresponding marketplace space is the Babysitting portal, which is intended to demonstrate the full contract lifecycle: base contract, amendments, addenda, closing and mutual evaluation.
Other envisioned pilots
- Street Fundraising: listed together with Babysitting in Milestone 2 of the Prototype 1 deliverables; see the Street Fundraising portal.
- Real Estate Restoration: a more specific track, described in Pilot: Real Estate Restoration. It is not a current priority, but it remains documented as a possible future pilot.
Beyond these, the second funding tranche of Prototype 1 aims at launching open calls for pilot experiments, open to any type of community.
