Market:Observatory/Online-Community-Moderation
馃挕 In simple words: This is a place where people watch how online communities keep things fair and nice. We learn from what works and what doesn't to make WikiDeal better.
馃幆 In 20 seconds (scientific summary): We are heading towards understanding moderation as a design discipline by systematically observing how online communities implement governance through rules, reputation mechanisms, and enforcement tools. This emerging trend suggests that participatory platforms can learn iteratively from comparative case studies to optimize their own moderation frameworks.
This observatory is under construction and not yet active. It is part of the WikiDeal observatories: citizen-run, participatory and volunteer-based.
The Online Community Moderation observatory is intended to watch moderation practices across online communities: rules, tools, karma and reputation systems, and their successes and failures, as learning material for WikiDeal's own moderation choices. The karma model WikiDeal intends to follow is documented on the Participatory Observatories innovation page.
