💡 In simple words: Sometimes, lending a little money to a friend or a cousin creates big fights. WikiDeal is looking for people who can make short, funny and spectacular videos that teach how to lend small amounts between family, friends and neighbours without losing trust. The best videos can win a reward.

🎯 In 20 seconds (expert summary): This early bird open call invites spectacular tutorial videos, shorts of about 1 minute 30, on small loans between family, friends and neighbours. Its official launch is planned for 21 July 2026, the opening day of Wikimania 2026 in Paris, and it is especially open to Wikimedians. There is no deadline. Reward: CHF 1,000 in direct cash. Proposals are posted on the discussion page of this call, with a mandatory AI transparency disclosure.

What this call is about

This open call invites the production of a spectacular tutorial on small loans between family, friends and neighbours: how to lend and borrow small amounts of money between people who know each other, without damaging the relationship.

The expected format is a set of short videos (shorts) of about 1 minute 30. The qualities sought are:

  • humour, charisma and storytelling;
  • video quality and special effects;
  • real-life scenarios and role plays;
  • legal references, statistics and pedagogical references;
  • pattern breaking: images and formats that surprise and stay in mind.

A good tutorial works on real angles, such as:

  • the shame of saying no to a relative who asks for money;
  • the small amounts that create conflicts within families and between siblings;
  • how to build the trust needed to lend, and how to accept compensatory measures.

A dedicated WikiDeal market on small loans between family, friends and neighbours is under construction; this tutorial is intended to accompany it.

Status and timeline

This is an early bird open call, also called an open call for pioneers: it is launched before the steering committee is formed, and it is especially open to Wikimedians. Its official launch is planned for 21 July 2026, the opening day of Wikimania 2026 in Paris, which celebrates the 25th anniversary of Wikipedia.

There is no deadline: the call remains open until a first tutorial has been adopted.

Reward

This call offers CHF 1,000 in direct cash. Unlike the two other early bird calls, this call does not include Cash Rewards.

The rules of the game of the open calls apply, including the maturity criterion: part of the sum can be withheld for up to one year, to verify that the contributions last.

How to propose

If you want to respond to this call, go to the discussion page of this call and post your proposal there, including external links to videos and documents hosted elsewhere if needed. You can also signal your participation by email to info@wikideal.net. Proposals are public: everyone can see what others have proposed. These calls are light and non administrative, in the spirit of micro calls for ideas: the rewards are intended to be distributed across several contributors who bring complementary ideas, comment on the proposals of others and help each other. The goal is several winners, not a cold competition with one winner and many losers.

Every proposal must include a full AI transparency disclosure: state which AI tools, if any, were used to prepare the proposal, and how. The general rules of the Open Call apply, in particular the rules of the game.

Closing condition

The call closes when a first tutorial is adopted by the delegates of the Ynternet.org Foundation. For the moment, the steering committee is composed of the WikiDeal founder (see credits) and other committee members. It has not met yet; it intends to meet once the first donations have been received.
