💡 In simple words: WikiDeal's small subscription price might grow a tiny bit each year. People could also buy subscriptions in advance, for others, to help the project grow. How exactly should that work? This page is a future call for ideas.

What this call is intended to be about

This draft open call is intended to invite an in-depth analysis of a progressive increase of the subscription amount described in the Subscription Model.

As an initial working hypothesis, proposed only as a starting point for discussion, the increase would be of up to 5% per year. No percentage is decided, and it is not decided whether such an increase would be implemented at all.

The idea being explored

The purpose being explored is the following: people could support the project by buying subscriptions in advance, for others, in order to help the development of the platform. They would later recover the equivalent of these subscriptions in Swiss francs, following the yearly increase. The intended stability of this idea is tied to the Swiss franc; as an informal image, it has been compared to "a stablecoin plus 5 percent". This is an image under discussion, not a financial claim.

The compounding effect over the years is part of the analysis requested by this open call.

No promise

Everything on this page is under discussion. No return is guaranteed, and this page intentionally avoids presenting the increase as a fixed contractual promise, in line with the framing of the related page Annual Value Increase (which covers a distinct question: a possible annual percentage increase on rewards).

Open questions for this call

  • The exact percentage: 5% per year is only an initial working hypothesis.
  • The compounding effect of the increase over the years.
  • How buying subscriptions in advance would be positioned compared with other ways of placing funds.
  • Legal and regulatory constraints, and the wording needed to avoid any promissory framing.

Status

This is a wave 2 draft: it is announced as an upcoming open call and is not yet launched. Scope, awards and deadline are intended to be defined at launch. The general rules of the Open Call would apply, in particular the rules of the game.
